Christians and Guns
Often asked Questions:
  • Can a Christian have or own a gun?
  • Didn't Jesus say not to own a gun?
  • What does the Bible say about guns and weapons for Christians/children of God?
I have read some very interesting (and disturbing) comments on my right to keep and bear arms since I posted and shared the above clip on YouTube of me shooting

One commenter said, "the will of God may be to get mugged and not defend yourself"

Another commenter said, "Jesus never pulled out a .45 and started shooting people"

Another commenter stated, "so you are an NRA member? those racists lunatic! I'm unsubscribing from your channel. YAHWEH and evil cannot be mixed together."

While another said, "why do you need a gun if you have Jesus?"

and a whole lot more.

Bearing arms has been a question for many Christians. Some choose to, others choose not to, some condemn them who do, others are not sure but desire clear Spirit led Biblical Answers. One thing is clear and it's a simple Truth that may shock many, God doesn't care if you have a gun anymore than He cares whether you keep knives in your home. What matters to Him is the intention of the heart. You see the reality of violence is man's intentions. For men have killed and murdered with their bare hands, a brick, a rope, their vehicles, with a baseball bat... you get the picture.

Let's delve right into this.

Matthew 26:52 - "Put your sword back in its place," Jesus said to him, "for all who draw the sword will die by the sword."

Why Christ tells Peter to put up the sword:

1.Christ is willingly laying down His life, though He has the right to use sword and angelic legions to deliver Himself from this unjust arrest (Luke 22:51, John 18:11).

2.Those who are quick to resort to violence will die by violence (Matt 26:52). The Lord hates the one who "loves violence" (Psalm 11:5). Those who are quick to violence are those who would kill for fun, murder children, gang bangers, those who would desire harm on other persons because they love a thrill for a kill, etc. This is NOT the same thing as protection of your family and or household by the Spirit of the Living God. Contrary to what a commenter stated, it is NOT God's will for any person to get mugged, raped, or killed.

Revelation 13:10 - " He that leadeth into captivity shall go into captivity: he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faith of the saints"
This is clear - He who leads a Saint into captivity will go into captivity (hell), he that kills a Saint with a sword must be killed with the Sword (See Rev 19:15 the Sword of Jesus' mouth on behalf of the Saints martyred and killed) - "Here is the patience and the faith of the Saint" meaning (knowing this will happen to all who persecute the Saints during the reign of the Anti-Christ will be recompensed)

Jesus also said:

Luke 22:36-38, "Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, 38. So they said, "Lord, look, here are two swords." And He said to them, "It is enough."
Those closest to Jesus carried personal weapons in His presence with His consent to communion and to prayer meetings. They possessed and carried these weapons, in which Jesus knew and consented. Furthermore, Jesus spoke of some time, present or future, when disciples would need to acquire personal weapons, even more urgently than garments.

**** We want to take in the whole counsel of God right? When Jesus taught and spoke He always referenced the Old Testament - so shall we. So let's also add these:

Exodus 22:2-3 2 "If the thief is found breaking in, and he is struck so that he dies, there shall be no guilt for his bloodshed."

Psalm 82:4 "Rescue the weak and needy; Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked." Who would be considered the "weak and the needy" - children? Elderly? Women who can be overwhelmed by a man looking to cause harm? YES!

Esther 8:11-12 11 By these letters the king permitted the Jews who were in every city to gather together and protect their lives -- to destroy, kill, and annihilate all the forces of any people or province that would assault them, both little children and women, and to plunder their possessions...

Nehemiah 4 17 Those who were rebuilding the wall and those who carried burdens took their load with one hand doing the work and the other holding a weapon.

Psalm 144:1 Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight

Why did David need and use natural weapons when he had the Anointing, the very Holy Spirit of the Living God?

A man after God's own heart surely would have heard the voice of the Lord say, "David, you don't need those weapons, that sling, those knives and shields anymore. You have Me."

No!

The Lord God had David not only practice his sling but carry and practice his hands for battle.

He also led David to use and keep many weapons at all times. God led David to fight, to protect his family, possessions, nation all awhile being Anointed and led by the Holy Spirit of God. God led David into Battle because David was willing while many other men were shaking in their boots.

The question isn't, "why do you need a gun if you have Jesus?" it is instead, "Because Jesus has given you precious lives to keep and protect and you recognize this responsibility as a head of home or a single mother and your willing to walk it out why wouldn't you exercise your right to have and carry a firearm by the Spirit of the Living God?"... David did. Also Jesus is the very One who told His disciples to sell their garments to obtain a sword.

***** WARNING *****
It would be a mistake to leave this teaching trusting in the sword. Guns, knives, weapons... these are mere tools, and none of these things can guarantee protection, any more than owning a fire extinguisher guarantees that your house won't burn down

Psalm 44:6-7 "For I will not trust in my bow, Nor shall my sword save me. 7 But You have saved us from our enemies, And have put to shame those who hated us." - We see David, a warrior who also was a man after God's own heart submitting his life and protection in the hands of the Lord rather than the weapons he owned, carried and used even though he used his weapons. David gave glory to the Lord after he was spared or won a battle, never did he give glory to the weapon.

Nehemiah 4:14 "Do not be afraid of them; remember the Lord who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your houses.... 20 "At whatever place you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us."

Do not put your trust (allegiance, life, glory and thanksgiving) in weapons. Put your trust in GOD as He guides your use (or non-use) of any weapon - in Jesus name, Amen.
The Bible and even Jesus Himself commands us to have a weapon, defend the helpless and protect what He has given us. Scriptures included in broadcast
